| Plot: The film follows eight different couples who in the build up to Christmas with the frantic where a bouts with relationships on the edge, secrets kept from partners. It is a complete roller-coaster ride in this seasonal out burst. Ident- Universal Length- 2:30 The length of the trailer is right on the max length that a trailer be. Universal has created and since there is so much in this film they have tried to put as much into the trailer as possible to get the audience interested in watching this film. Shot Type/ Length- Close ups, mid shots Each shot is no more than a few seconds each which conquers with typical conventions of trailers. Each shot used has its own importance, and entices the audiences attention further. |
Love Actually Trailers
These are two different trailers to the same film. They have been produced in different ways but at the same time in the same way. They both show the story of what is going to happen with the idea of being about 19 different people. One uses inter-titles to add a greater effect to the trailer where as the other trailer uses a voice over.

Information told- Information given in this film is that there is more than one couple and that the film revolves around each of them in one form or another. The idea of it revolving around Christmas gives it more of an impact as relationships do struggle around Christmas and from this trailer, the information that has been provided to the audience is vital in knowing what will happen and the impact as to each of there stories will have on society as someone would be able to relate to each of the couples.
Predict what happens- It is not as predictable as other trailers I have looked at as there is so much happening with in the trailer with the aspect of the trailer having more than one couple which makes it more difficult to know what is going to happen. With this added influence on the trailer makes it more difficult to understand but at the same time simple due to it following the same basic story line of most romantic comedies which gives the film a whole new outlook.

I like this shot from the first trailer as it is different and it shows all the characters at the same time with the videos moving across the screen in opposite directions emphasises on the people involved in the making of the film. Since this film is about more than one couple it makes sense for them to show the people in this way. It provides the audience with more information as to what the film is about. Without going over the allotted time given to trailers. This makes it more interesting to watch the trailer.
This adds extra snip its for the audience to watch giving them better understanding of what the film is about.

corporation has also produced that come under this category. Four Weddings and a Funeral, Notting Hill and Bridget Jones Diary. All of which have been regarded as some of the best rom-com films. It has also used some sort of sparkle effect on some of the text shown right at the start. It adds atmosphere creating a romantic feel to the trailer. Where as the other trailer uses clips from these films as well as a voice over to explain what is going on. The voice over is a masculine voice which makes it stick to typical conventions of a rom-com trailer to use. Both ways are good and by showing them done like this helps the audiences understanding, everyone
has their preferences so can be encouraged to watch either version of the trailer.
