From looking at a resource (Media magazine April 2014: Prodcution) from the library I have found some points I need to be careful of when filming/ editing:
From looking at this resource it has also helped with developing my analysis of the teaser trailers of both the ones made by other students and actual trailers. By analysing them in terms of length, devices etc. www.thefilmspace.org www.npr.org/blogs/monkeysee/2012/01/15/145227280 www.wired.com/underwire/2013/06/art-of-the-trailer/ www.filmeducation.org/teachingtrailers/secondary/
The props that are required for the trailer are:

Pre-production still left to do/ complete:
I have managed to get my main two actors sorted for the trailer and I am currently trying to organise a time to do a run through of certain sections of the shots. To see if they work or would need some adjustments, but unfortunately I am unable to do this, this week and next week with both actors due to my work schedule. However, I should be able to work with one of them next Monday to do some practice shooting that requires just one of them.
I have decided to create a video of the storyboard with the transitions to see how it would look after completing the filming of the footage. This is my attempt of creating an animatic, it shows the main shots that the trailer will consist of. It however, does not show the movement that will take place as I needed more storyboards and I should have used Adobe After Effects instead of Windows Live Movie Maker but the main principle of what I am going to do is there.
Today, I have been looking through the trailers, I have already analysed plus others to see whether or not, what I have done so far is alright for a trailer or it would be too much like a short film. I have come to the conclusion that what I have done is too similar to a short film, as there is too much shown in the same location, I will need to reduce down what I have written for some of the locations.
I have edited the shot list and does seem to work better as a trailer and I have included when the actors names and the added phrases are going to appear. It has also broken it up more than what it would have been without them. I can now work on the script for the trailer, which should be alright to do so with the shot list being drafted. I should hopefully get the actors sorted by the end of the week or at latest next week. I will be going to the schools next Monday to ask the head teacher whether or not I can film the people who could possibly be interested in doing this. Plus provide them with a letter to give to anyone that is interested in being the actors for me. The name of the characters are going to be very important as certain names have specific meaning and I will need to find names that are appropriate for the teaser trailer. The name has to have some relevance to romance. So I will need to make sure the names suit the concept which I will need to sort before filming. meaning of names link http://www.meaning-of-names.com/search/index.asp?nm=opal http://www.name-meanings.com/name-meanings/a.php?choice=meaning&gender=&s=440 name generator http://random-name-generator.info/random/?n=10&g=3&st=2 I will need to get the character names sorted, to make the script make more sense with what is done. I have been looking at possible names for both the male and female roles in the trailer. Possible names for the character: Some of the names above could be relevant to the idea and are the ones I have narrowed the list down to. However, the one that I think is most appropriate for the girl is either Kerry or Sarah as their names refer to Princess and would need to make some sort of decision as to who they would choose as their lover. This is important to the story as the character would have to choose between her boyfriend who is away or her love from years ago.
The boys name I am finding to be a bit more difficult, I have found some names for this but nothing that is really suitable for the character. I will need to continue looking at the names for this. This is the final script, I have changed it to include what I have decided to go ahead with using the same people for both sections for young and old. The dialogue has changed. I have not wrote a script for a while and I have forgotten the structure of what it looks like. Below is an example of a screenplay I have found that shows what it is supposed to look like. I have written the a draft of the script. I have not included the names of the characters as I have not thought of the names as of yet but just included whether it is the male or female actor talking. This is the first version of the script. Second version of the script, I have changed the middle section to make it easier to film, and the end section slightly. I will need to make a thew more adjustments. But also include the character names. If I cannot find anyone to act the beginning section of the kids in the woods, I will start the teaser trailer from the boy returning to the street. Also, the use of the phone at the very end I have used alternatives of how the prop is going to be used. Therefore I am going to try and do both versions to see which one is more suitable.
The section with the bus in the first shot list might need to be changed due to permission filming and I would need to find a time when there would not be that many people on the bus. Also, what I have put does seem more like a short film than a trailer as there is too much going on in the same location. Therefore, an alternative place to film this is just outside, possibly having her pass him in the street. This might work better than the bus version. I have thought about whether or not the bus shot list would work and I have come to the conclusion that it could cause the footage to go badly wrong due to the bus journey not being a smooth ride and there would be too many camera angles to deal with and would probably be impossible to deal with them all. With saying that shots could be done outside, there would not be that many shots to deal and would seem more like a trailer than what I had initially put into the shot list.
In the alternative shot list I have included a split screen between messages being sent and them doing things together. In modern society the need to communicate through letters about there feelings are no longer existent. And the need to use social networking to just write it, it would be more appropriate with the age group but also the culture in today's society. However, at the end I have included a letter that he will give her at the end and so might be more appropriate with him trying to write a letter, it will give it a more personal touch and show that it is still done in society. This will also make him seem mature with the fact that he is writing his feelings down on paper and handing it to the girl I have also included what will happen in the structure of what will happen during the editing on Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5 when added phrases will appear during the sequence. I will also need to include actor names to appear during the sequence as well. I will be doing a first run through shortly, depending on when I get permission to film the younger people and get a male actor sorted. The use of the male actor attempting to write the letter gives the emphasis of the love that he has and does not know how to write his feelings down on paper. The locations I have thought of so far are:
What I have planned to do is film in as many locations as possible featured above to see what works best with what is going to happen. Issues with locations Due to most of the locations being outside I need to film on a sunny day to have the most appropriate effect in the trailer without the need to do much editing of the individual footage. However, if the days I intend to film are not that great I would have to just alter the footage in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5. Permission to film in desired location- in specific the bus scene. If I cannot get permission to film I would use the alternative shot list. Weather is going to be a big issue as the majority of what I intend to include is going to be outside. Due to last year having issues with the organisation of actors, I have decided to this create a casting list to get people possibly from the drama department in college to have as understudies or even the year 11's in the school for the teaser trailer to prevent any issues taking place. I will set to work on creating this later on.
As mentioned before, I have my female actor sorted but I have not yet sorted the male actor. I will add the profile later on after first shooting. Due to what I have planned for the teaser trailer I am going to need two younger people to act for me in this. Therefore what I have decided to do is to go to the local schools to ask permission for some of the students to be filmed for this. I will also need to get permission from the parents to film their children so I will need to make a permission form for this. If I cannot get permission from the local schools I will use the second version of the shot list. I am currently working on trying to get permission to film during some of the year 7 drama lessons to get an insight as to what they are like as performers and if they are appropriate for what I intend to do. My previous thoughts to the age I wanted was a bit younger than this as it would seem more appropriate with the age gap with how they have changed, but feel that they are not going to be willing enough to do what I intend to film. |
