There is normally seven ways the characters of a romance film are positioned on a poster are:
- Back to back- This appears to be the most common positioning of characters in a romantic film when there is only two people involved in the relationship. Examples below. Milenge Milenge is an example where they are back to back but they have a divider between them which is also a common trend of this genre to include.
- Three faces- Love triangle usually associated with the three faces on the poster. This is a typical story line of a romantic comedy film and is normally done this way with the featuring of the characters.
- Bench- Two characters sat next to each other on a bench. This is not normally done but it is more common to be produced this way now a days.
- Giant heads- taking up the majority of the poster- usually done when the couple are about to kiss or just to show the love that they share through showing the emotion in their faces.
- The collage- more than one couple appearing within the film. This is something that is not that commonly done when there is only two/ three people who are a part of the love story but more often the case when show more than one couple in the film. However, the one exception to this is Elizabethantown when it is about one couple in which it shows a montage of their love story.
- The pick me up pose- usually the male picking the female up
- The Lean- When one of the pair leans on the other or the picture is positioned angled rather than straight at the point of view of directly being in front of the viewer of the poster.
I would like to make the poster less typical of that of usual poster revolving around romance but from the choices above the most appropriate would have to be the three faces.
(Young Love) Poster idea having the boyfriend to the girl have his arm around the girl, with her looking round and her old friend being behind the couple, standing in the distance. It would feature the couple as a mid shot and then a full image of the old friend. But this does not depict the idea of it being a young love.
However, if I use the other title (When we meet?) The poster would feature the person walking past in the street.
