Conventions of film Posters
- There is not just one font that can be used for the billing board it depends on the genre of the film and what the creators want to use, as any font could really be used
- The creators of the film (all the people that are above the line) are usually packed together in a billing block at the bottom of the poster (example to the right)
- Production company logo featured with the billing block in this case DreamWorks
- They would normally signify what the genre is, examples above: The Avengers- action- due to the image used which is also the same for The Night Rider. Providing the dramatic, action packed element which is what to be expected from action films. On the other hand, The Theatre Bizarre- a horror/ thriller film. This is signified through the use of the blood coming out of the mouth but also having the eyeball in the mouth. The font writing also helps with signifying the genre, red- connoting blood, death which are usually associated with horror films.
- The biggest named actors featured in the film/ director of another film or rating of the film featured at the very top of the poster
- The image normally of the main characters who are normally centered
- Date when released at the bottom of the poster either an actual date or just coming soon.
